When we began to think about a better way to set up faster, stay organized, and create an optimized cooking space, we searched high and low for a durable solution but didn’t find anything that hit the mark like Evan’s Dad’s old hand-built system. There are great cooking set-up solutions out there. For example, camp kitchen tables, but these take time to set up and don’t include storage. Chuck boxes solve the storage problem but usually need to sit on a tailgate or picnic table and don’t offer enough cooking space.
We’ve engineered an all-in-one solution that allows you to store, transport, and instantly set up a complete outdoor cooking station. Unique features such as stackability, foldable wings, and extendable legs are in the process of patenting, highlighting the innovative nature of the Brio Kitchen Box.

Inspired By Childhood Camping Memories
When cofounder Evan Sidwell was a kid, his family of five would head out for a camping adventure every summer weekend they could. With all that camping they did, Evan’s Dad became acutely aware of and frustrated by the hassles of packing and unpacking, disorganized bins, and lack of cooking space. He built custom camping boxes to stay organized and spend more time enjoying nature with his family.
25 years later, adventure buddies Evan, Colin, and Louis still had the same problems today. This is what inspired us to create the ultimate outdoor cooking companion. Just like Evan’s Dad wanted to spend more creating family memories, we want to help you do the same.
The Prototyping and Design Journey
The Brio development process began with our first prototype designed in 2023. It was made from medium-density fibreboard (similar to particle board). We originally thought a 16” cube was the way to go and took it out in the field. We hosted an outdoor brunch inviting friends and family to share their thoughts, and even set up outside the BC Outdoor Show inviting exhibition attendees to stop and share their feedback. While it was clear we were onto something special, we realized the space limitations and the desire to fit a two-burner stove inside… Back to the drawing board.
We are lucky to have Louis Dombowsky as a cofounder… He is an experienced carpenter and industrial designer who spent five years working in a Research & Development Manufacturing Plant focused on panelized building innovation. He knows 3D modelling, materials, and structural integrity like the back of his hand… Louis went to work on a new expanded and enhanced Brio model that a manufacturer could produce.
Through a search of over 100 manufacturing partners, we chose one with aligned values and a desire to collaborate on a long-term partnership. This manufacturer’s engineering team helped us refine the model and develop the second Brio prototype which you see in most of our videos and pictures. We are refining the Brio Kitchen Box even further to finalize the product and ensure it is ready for mass production… Introducing the Brio Kitchen Box 2.0
Design Update – The Brio Kitchen Box 2.0
We have already begun refining the Brio Kitchen Box and want to share the latest designs with you. After much feedback from early users, we settled on a few updates that will bring more value to you. The latest improvements include more customization in shelving, more robust hardware and materials in locations of greater material stress, and a reduction in wasted space. We have also added spring pins for quick setup, the top hatch for easy access, and an add-on clipping system for attachments.

How to Use
Setup is simple:
- Fill the Brio Kitchen Box with all your camping essentials.
- Put it in the back of your car or truck (strap the Brio Kitchen Box down via the handles if it’s gonna get bumpy).
- Drive to a dreamy adventurous beautiful outdoor location.
- Pull the Brio Kitchen Box out.
- Place it at your cooking station and press the quick-release button.
- Pick it up allowing the legs to fall.
- Shift the legs to find the extended locking position.
- Adjust the orbital feet to find level ground.
- Release the wings and lift to the open locking position.
- Hook, hang or attach whatever helps you feel set up and organized.
- Turn on the stove and you’re making coffee in no time.
