01 – Smart Thermal Chip
The Smart Thermal AI sensor automatically adjusting fan speed based on PS5’s temperature. When your PS5 heats up past 50°C, it cranks the fans to max, then gradually slows down as temps drop below 49°C.
The cooler delivers high airflow at max speed (LEFT), and switches to low speed (RIGHT) when idle, ensuring efficient cooling without unnecessary noise.
The Artic V2 takes 2-3 minutes to adjust and reduce fan speed, while Artic S needs 3-5 minutes due to PS5 Slim’s smaller vents which takes longer to fully dissipate the heat.

Thermal testing is a big deal to craft the coolest cooler! We ran the numbers with and without the Artic PS5 cooler, and our engineers made sure it nailed the sweet spot for keeping temps and noise low.
We used Fluke thermal imaging camera to capture external temps. Under heavy load, the Artic S cooler shown a 9°C reduction at the hottest point, the Ethernet port. To put things into perspective, imagine the weather goes down by 9°C — it’s a significant change!
Test done on a first-gen PS5 with the largest copper heatsink, we saw an impressive 5°C drop, impressive right?
07 – Noise Level Test
The redesigned Dynamic Hyperfluid fan runs at just 31 dB to 38 dB — about as gentle as a soft chat. At full speed, it’s still audible with the PS5’s own fan, and when idle, it’s nearly silent, giving you a smooth, uninterrupted experience.
At 0.5 meter distance, the Artic PS5 cooler paired with the internal PS5 fan generates around 36 dB of noise under load, that is average noise level at home.
