Growing in soil is inefficient and comes with a plethora of challenges. Verda Garden Modular uses a technique called hydroponics — a soil-free system that uses less water than traditional soil-based systems and optimally distributes liquid nutrients to each plant’s roots.

Why Verda Garden Modular?

What can you grow with Verda Garden Modular?

Plants we have successfully tested:

Green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, Romaine, butter lettuce, frisee, arugula, kale, mustard, Swiss chard, bok choy, basil, mint, thyme, coriander, dill, parsley, rosemary (cuttings), sage, cherry tomatoes, chili peppers, radish and zinnia.

You can also grow, flowers and plants that are not on the list.

*We recommend buying seeds from a trustworthy company as germination rate highly depends on seed quality. Please note that the germination rate of the seeds may be lower if they have been stored for over a year.

*If you want to grow cherry tomatoes with Verda Garden Modular, we suggest buying dwarf tomato seeds as the plants are much smaller in size and do not require additional staking when growing.

But there are also holes on the grow tray for you to install bamboo sticks (3 mm in diameter) to support larger plants.

How many units do you need to cover your recommended daily intake?

Harvest one and plant another right away:

It is recommended that adults eat 2 cups of vegetables per day.

1 head of lettuce = 4 cups of shredded lettuce

In order to meet nutrition requirements, 1 head of grown lettuce can supply 4 cups of lettuce, enough for 2 days of vegetables per person.

Total harvest required for a person per month: 15 heads of lettuce.

Assume a harvest of 1 head of lettuce every 2 days and planting a new seed right away. Each plant requires 30 days to grow.

After harvesting the 15th plant, the newly planted lettuce on day 1 should have grown for 15*2 days = 30 days.

You may use our calculator to determine how many units you need.

The maximum number of plants growing in 2 units at the same time = 18 plants.

Therefore, 2 units are enough to supply the recommended daily nutrition for 1 person if the person solely depends on the garden to supply vegetables for their diet.

Cost of running a Verda Garden Modular

• How much does nutrients cost?

You can purchase any hydroponics nutrients from local stores/Amazon. Usually a bottle of one part nutrients that cost USD 20 dollars can be used for at least 6 months for a single Verda Garden Modular.

• How much does grow medium cost?

Grow medium(any) usually just cost less than USD 0.3 dollars per piece.

You can also cut a dish washing sponge into pieces and use them as grow medium.

• How much does seeds cost?

A pack of lettuce seeds of USD 6 dollars can cantain up to 1000 seeds.

How do you wash it?

• Simply drain the water and move the grow tray to the sink. Wash by hand with dish liquid; or simply put it in the dishwasher after removing the pump.
• We recommend washing the grow tray or draining the water and filling the tray with clean water once a month to prevent bacterial growth.

You will only need one power cord for each unit. The power cord is connected to the grow light. There will be a thin wire connecting the grow light to the grow tray to support the pump.

Shipping Cost

We will charge shipping after the campaign is over. Shipping costs will be based on the address you provide in your backer survey and the weight of your order, including your pledge items and any add-ons that might catch your eye.

Our shipping costs are based on sales projections as well as an average of ranges for shipping costs we’ve attained, thus they are subject to change depending on our results. To make the fulfillment process as smooth as possible, we will ship orders to backers in the most cost-effective way possible.

I have always loved growing food. I started when I was a kid, growing salad greens and herbs hydroponically indoors at my home.

I see a future where fresh food will be grown everywhere, allowing people to enjoy fresh food anytime and anywhere. Our carbon footprint will be lessened as the transportation of fresh food will not be necessary. Cities will be filled with fresh food and greenery!
